General Questions
What is a doula?
A doula is a trained support person who provides continuous emotional, physical, and informational support during pregnancy, labor, and postpartum. I do not replace your medical team—instead, I work alongside them to help you feel supported, informed, and confident in your decisions.
Do you replace my doctor or midwife?
No. Your provider is responsible for your medical care and delivery. My role is to support you—helping you understand your options, stay comfortable, and feel empowered throughout your experience.
What is the benefit of having a doula?
Studies show that having continuous support during labor can lead to Lower rates of interventions, shorter labors, and increased satisfaction with the birth experience.
Beyond that, many families simply feel more calm, prepared, and supported having someone dedicated solely to them.
When should I hire a doula?
The earlier, the better—most clients book in the second trimester to ensure availability. However, I do accept clients later in pregnancy when possible.
What areas do you serve?
I serve families throughout the Adirondacks and surrounding areas. Travel outside this range may be available—just reach out to discuss.
Do you support hospital births or home births?
Both. I support hospital births, home births, and birth center deliveries. I also support both medicated and unmedicated births—your preferences are always respected.
Service Specific Questions
What happens when I go into labor?
Do you stay the entire time?
Once labor begins, you can call or text me. I’ll help you assess what’s happening and guide you on when to head to your birth location. I join you in active labor and remain with you continuously through delivery and the immediate postpartum period.
Yes. I stay with you throughout your labor and birth, no matter how long it takes, and remain for 1–2 hours after delivery to support initial recovery, bonding, and feeding.
What does “on-call” mean?
What if you’re unavailable when I go into labor?
Starting around 38 weeks, I am on-call for you 24/7. This means I am ready to come support you whenever labor begins, day or night.
In the rare event I cannot attend your birth (illness or emergency), I will arrange a trusted backup doula to support you so you are never left without care.
Do you offer postpartum support?
Yes. Postpartum support is included in some packages, and additional support can be added. This can include newborn care guidance, feeding support, emotional support, and help adjusting during those early weeks.
Booking & Payments
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes. I accept credit and debit cards as well as flexible payment plans through Klarna, Affirm, and Afterpay to make support accessible. A deposit of 50% is required to reserve your due date.
Do you accept insurance or Medicaid?
I do not currently accept any forms of insurance or Medicaid. Some plans may reimburse services, and I can provide a receipt if needed. Feel free to reach out and we can talk through options.
Can my partner still be involved?
Absolutely. My role is to support both of you. I help guide partners so they feel confident and involved, not replaced.
